What games are like LinkedIn Zip?
The closest games to LinkedIn Zip are other single-path grid puzzles: you draw one line through every cell without lifting your finger or crossing yourself. Some App Store apps copy Zip's numbered-dot rule directly. Others, like our own Sumthread, keep the single path and change what you are aiming at. We make Sumthread, so weigh our view of it accordingly.
If what you love is the one-line, every-cell path, you have more options than you think.
Honest limits before you download anything
- Sumthread is not Zip. There are no numbered dots. You hit ordered target sums by adding tile values, so there is a little arithmetic in every move.
- Boards are small. The largest is 4x5. Zip's weekend puzzles are bigger, and some Zip-style apps go up to 8x8.
- No global leaderboard. Daily completion history stays on your phone. You can share a spoiler-free emoji grid, but there is no shared ranking.
- Apple devices only. iPhone and iPad on iOS 18 or later, plus Apple silicon Macs and Vision Pro, per the listing.
Pick Sumthread for calm sums on a small board, not for a bigger Zip.
Games like Zip: the questions people ask
What are the rules of LinkedIn Zip?
You draw one path that connects the numbered dots in order while making sure every cell of the grid is used, as Business Standard explained at launch in March 2025. Puzzles get harder through the week, from Monday to Sunday.
Can I play more than one Zip a day?
LinkedIn serves one Zip per day. Third-party apps on the App Store copy the format and add practice modes and level packs, which is why people search for games like Zip once the daily one is done.
Is Sumthread a Zip clone?
No. It shares the core of a single continuous path through every tile, up, down, left or right, no revisits. Instead of hitting numbered dots in order, you hit ordered target sums: your running total must land exactly on each target, then resets to zero.
Does Sumthread have a daily puzzle like Zip?
Yes. The Daily Thread is one fresh 4x4 board each day, with local completion history and spoiler-free emoji grid sharing.
Does Sumthread need the internet or an account?
No. Its App Store listing says 100% offline play, no account, no ads and no third-party tracking. Progress saves automatically on the device.
Is Sumthread free?
It is a free download, and its App Store page shows no in-app purchases. All five puzzle collections are listed as included.
What other LinkedIn games are there?
LinkedIn added Patches on 18 March 2026, a tiling puzzle it calls Zip's puzzle-loving sibling, according to LinkedIn's announcement.
How a Sumthread board works, in 3 steps
- Read the targets. The top bar shows ordered target sums, for example 12, then 11, then 10 on the very first board.
- Thread the tiles. Start on the START tile and drag or tap through neighbours, up, down, left or right. A running total counts as you go. Dashed borders show where you can reach next; amber marks a tile that would complete the target.
- Land it exactly. When your total hits the target, that tile locks with an amber ring and the count restarts from zero. The last target must finish on the last tile left.
One design decision we made: backtracking is free and instant. Drag backward or tap an earlier tile and the path rewinds. Zip players expect to experiment, and punishing a wrong turn would turn a calm break into a test. If you want the harder version, finish a board with zero hints and zero undos for the Clean Weave seal.
Three moves to learn: read the target, thread the tiles, land it exactly.
