Chapter 0 · the short answer

What do idle game number abbreviations mean?

Each abbreviation names a step of 1,000: after trillion (T) come quadrillion (Qa), quintillion (Qi), sextillion (Sx), septillion (Sp), octillion (Oc), nonillion (No) and decillion (Dc). So 1Qa is 1,000T, and 1Qi is 1,000Qa.

These are the short-scale names used in the US and in modern British English, listed on Wikipedia's names of large numbers page. The two-letter forms exist because two names start with Q and two with S. Qa and Qi, Sx and Sp: the second letter does the work.

Every new letter means the same thing: three more zeros.

Chapter 2 · a likely first week

The night a Q looked smaller than a T

Picture the first week with an idle game. Monday, the printer coughs out dollars. Wednesday, the numbers pick up an M. Friday, a B, and you feel rich in a way that costs nothing.

Then the next stage asks for 1.5Qa and you have 900T. Q sounds tiny next to T. It is not: 900T is 0.9Qa, so you are 60% of the way there. Without the decoder, that is the moment players buy the wrong upgrade or reset too early.

Cash Empire Clicker Your Empire screen: stage requirements of $5.00K, $100K, $2.00M and $50.0M lifetime, with income multipliers
Marked in yellow: $5.00K and $100K, thousands. Marked in green: $2.00M and $50.0M, millions. These are the stage requirements on the App Store screenshot of Cash Empire Clicker's Your Empire screen.

Notice the format: always three significant digits, so $5.00K, $50.0M, $100K. The free Cash Empire web edition, which we make, writes larger amounts with the same suffix ladder this page uses: K, M, B, T, Qa, Qi, Sx, Sp, Oc, No, Dc.

900T is not small. It is 0.9Qa wearing a different letter.

Chapter 3

Big number questions

What comes after a trillion in idle games?

Quadrillion, usually written Qa (10 to the 15th), then quintillion, Qi (10 to the 18th). Each new name is 1,000 times the one before.

What does Qa mean in an idle game?

Qa is quadrillion: a 1 followed by 15 zeros. The extra letter keeps it apart from Qi, quintillion, which is 1,000 times bigger.

What is bigger, Qa or Qi?

Qi. Quintillion (Qi) is 1,000 quadrillion (Qa). In alphabetical order Qa comes first, and that is also the size order.

What does Sx mean?

Sextillion, 10 to the 21st. Do not confuse it with Sp, septillion, which is 10 to the 24th.

Why do some games show aa, ab or e15 instead?

Every game picks its own notation. Some switch to letter pairs once the named suffixes run out, and some offer scientific notation, where 1.5e15 means 1.5 times 10 to the 15th. Check the game's settings or help page.

Does Cash Empire Clicker use real money?

No. Its App Store listing says all money in the game is fictional, with no real money, gambling, betting, cash-outs or investment services, and the in-game currency has no real-world value.

Quick conversions: divide by 1,000 to move one letter up (2,500T = 2.5Qa); multiply by 1,000 to move one letter down (0.4Qi = 400Qa). Scientific notation reads the zeros directly: 1e18 is 1Qi.

Three-question check

1. Which is bigger?

2. Which is bigger?

3. How many zeros in 1Sx?

Tap an answer in each row.

If you got three of three, you read idle numbers better than most first-week players.
