Which bridges puzzle app is free with no ads?
On the App Store today, Hashi: Bridges by Conceptis (200 free puzzles) and our own Sumbriska (two free regions plus daily and endless modes) are both free to download and state that they show no ads. Simon Tatham's Puzzles is free and its listing mentions no ads or purchases, but it was last updated in 2020. Hashi Bridges by Fischer Dynamics has no ads but costs $0.99 up front.
We make Sumbriska, so read our row with that in mind. Everything below comes from each app's US App Store page as we checked it on 3 November 2026, not from memory or reviews.
Short version: no-ads bridges puzzles exist for free, and the real question is which kind of bridges puzzle you want.

How each one plays, in plain words
- Conceptis Hashi: Bridges is the classic. You connect islands with one or two bridges so each island's number matches its bridge count, and every island must link up. Its listing promises a unique solution per puzzle, unlimited undo and check, dark mode and iCloud backup. If you already love Hashi, this is the deepest free pool.
- Fischer Dynamics Hashi Bridges moves the same rule onto hexagonal islands, so bridges run in six directions instead of four. It adds daily challenges, timed challenges and global highscores. One payment, no ads.
- Simon Tatham's Puzzles is a port of the long-running open-source collection: 38 small logic games, Bridges among them. Plain to look at and very generous, but the iOS version's last update listed is from September 2020.
- Sumbriska is a different puzzle wearing the same islands. The bridges are already drawn and each one carries numbers. Tap a bridge and it flips, sending a different number to each island, so both totals change at once. You win when every island sits exactly on its target sum.
Classic Hashi is about counting bridges; Sumbriska is about adding the numbers they carry.
Honest limits of Sumbriska
- Regions 3 to 6, the Shipyard and Observatory side boards, Gale Run and the 3-4 ring workshop sit behind the Voyage Pass. That pass is a subscription with no free trial.
- It is not classic Hashi. If you want to draw bridges from scratch, the Conceptis app is the better pick.
- Six regions is a finite map. The Deep is endless, but the harbor you build has an end.
- iPhone and iPad only (iOS 18 or later), plus Apple silicon Macs and Vision Pro per the listing. No Android.
One design decision we made: hints, Undo and step explanations never cost XP. We wanted people to learn the logic instead of hoarding help, so there is no penalty for asking.
Who Sumbriska is not for
Pick something else if you want pure Hashiwokakero, a one-time price with no subscription anywhere in sight (Fischer Dynamics' $0.99 app or a Conceptis pack suits you), or a huge variety of logic games in one place (Simon Tatham's collection). It is also not a speed game, apart from Harbor Run; most boards reward slow thinking.
It is for people who like small arithmetic as a puzzle: adding 8 and 7 in your head, noticing that one flip fixes the left island but breaks the bottom one, and trying again. The Two Tides boards, where one layout must satisfy a high-tide and a low-tide schedule together, are the hardest thing in the app.
If you enjoy the moment when one move fixes two things at once, Sumbriska was built around that moment.
Questions about no-ads bridges puzzles
Is there a Hashi bridges app with no ads?
Yes. As of November 2026 the App Store listing for Hashi: Bridges by Conceptis says "No ads", the $0.99 Hashi Bridges by Fischer Dynamics lists "No Ads!", and Sumbriska states no ads, no accounts and no data collected. Simon Tatham's Puzzles does not mention ads in its listing.
Which bridges puzzle app is completely free?
Simon Tatham's Puzzles is the only one of the four whose listing shows no purchases at all. Conceptis gives 200 free puzzles and sells extra packs. Sumbriska gives regions 1 and 2, the Daily board, The Deep and Harbor Run for free; the rest is in the optional Voyage Pass.
Is Sumbriska the same as Hashiwokakero?
No. Classic Hashi asks you to draw bridges until each island has the right bridge count. In Sumbriska the bridges are already there and carry numbers; you flip them so each island's total lands on its target sum. It shares the islands and bridges, not the rules.
How much is the Sumbriska Voyage Pass?
$4.99 per month or $29.99 per year, auto-renewing, with no free trial. You can play the free regions forever without it.
Do these apps work offline, say on a plane?
Sumbriska says it works fully offline. Fischer Dynamics' listing does not say either way and includes global highscores, which need a connection. Conceptis offers iCloud backup, which is optional.
Is Sumbriska OK for kids?
It is rated 4+. Child profiles have no purchases and no links, and the adult area sits behind a PIN or Face ID, according to the listing.
